Big Throws from the Big10
Published by
The Big10 has been dominating the weight throw this year on the men’s side. Currently with 6 of the top 10 throws coming from Big10 athletes. The biggest throws from the Big10 coming from Minnesota senior Micah Hegerle with a toss of 21.84m(71’8”) and Antonio James a sophomore from Michigan State who broke the school record with a throw of 21.59m(70’10”). A few other standouts from the Big10 are Jon Lehman a junior from Minnesota and Chuk Enekwechi a freshman that has surpassed the 21m mark earlier in February.
This is the point of indoor season where conference meets are underway. This weekend was the Big East championships where Louisville junior Sam Bombaugh won the weight with a toss of 19.99m(65’7”). Along with his win in the weight Sam picked up the win in the shot as well. This weekend the Atlantic 10 championship took place and VCU’s sophomore Brandon Ruffin took the A10 title with a winning toss of 19.12m(62’8.75”). This coming weekend will have the majority of conference championships and hopefully some big throws.
